It has come to my attention that someone is tracing my sketches and posting them on tumblr. I actually know who it is, and I'm not going to call them out on it by posting their tumblr or their drawings, but this is for them. And for anyone else who does this type of stuff. I honestly cannot understand it.

Now this...this is a conundrum I suppose. I understand that tracing can help someone become better, I'm a new media designer by trade and I've learned the values of learning from others. What I don't appreciate is that they are repurposed for fanart and posted as if they weren't completely taken from someone else. I'm not providing bases here.

Yes, I know that they are basically dead and unknown because I've hidden them in this community, and also that they probably wouldn't even become finished products (if slapping colors and inking them in photoshop means finished), but that just isn't...respectful, I guess. I feel really sad actually.

I think I'll just post my sketches on my own tumblr so I can get all the reblogs/likes that my work is getting on your tumblr. Does it feel validating to be liked for something you didn't come up with?

Yes, they are just poses (mostly). I'm happy to know someone out there likes my half-bodies so much they'd trace them, but to not at least make a reference...I just. I don't get it. You seem perfectly capable of drawing on your own, so I don't understand, is it just a dearth of imagination?

You've put me in a very strange and confusing situation. Right now, I just feel like what is the point of this community at all, honestly. I post my sketches here because I know how inspiring looking at people's unfinished work and brainstorming can be...but I never thought someone would do this.

I'm not angry really. Just...so sad. I feel betrayed, maybe. I feel unnecessary. Right now I do feel a little vindictive, too. I'll use my own art to make homestuck fanart too, ok. How about you try it?

What/Who, if anything/anyone, do my drawings remind you of? It could be a particular artist, a style, an animation or even just an image found on tumblr — anything.

I know this seems unbearably self-serving/egoistic, & I won't lie, it is partly. However, I ask because in my Intro to Painting class, I was talking to someone who also doodles, and I was telling him that what I draw would probably be considered anime/manga influenced. He asked me what show/what type of anime did it draw from (read: does it look like Goku),and honestly I couldn't think of any particular artist/show to tell him. It kinda threw me for a loop, so now I'm interested to know what other people think.

Well, it's been on my mind, and wow there are a lot of you watching this community, and I don't really know you. And I would like to change that.

Sooo anybody who hasn't found it in them to say hi, please do! I'm really quite honored to have so many people want to look at my ridiculous sketch dumps. I-I'm so sorry for never drawing anything to completion.

I feel like I use this more as a digital archive with benefits, I mean, I could just scan everything and leave it in my photobucket or something idk.

OK, so the Members Only idea is sort of lame - but I'll go along with it (this is what I get for making this a community instead of a regular journal for some reason unknown to me).
